Changes at Chichester Sloe Fair

funfair

One of the largest one day Charter Fairs takes place in the West Sussex city of Chichester each October 20, which this year fell on a Thursday. This fair, which is held on the spacious Northgate car park close to the city centre, dates back to the 12th century and is one of the largest not to have an official opening ceremony.

Peter Talman’s account is on page 5.

Circus

Gandeys . . . Your Circus Awakens

Circus

Following a busy summer with three different shows at Butlin’s holiday resorts and the launch of a brand new tour of the Chinese State Circus, Gandeys Circus returned to Merry Hill Shopping Centre for its third annual appearance.

Andy Payne’s review is on page 24.

Preservation

Autumn gathering at Amberley

pres

Roger Mills’ report is on page 31.
