Top notch fair for Barking

Of all the fairs presented in the many parks throughout Barking and Dagenham, and for that matter most East London boroughs, there is none grander than the spring fair held in Barking Park under the lesseeship of TP Holland & Son.

Uncle Sam’s Stars and Stripes 

Circus

Peter Hoffman and his Uncle Sam’s Great American Circus opened their new touring season at Bedford, where World’s Fair first saw the show before we caught up with them again over Easter at Leicester Racecourse.

Preservation

Plenty of whistle at Gunpowder Steam

At 3pm on Sunday May 15, just following the announcement of the best in show engine on the second day of the Steam Heritage weekend at Waltham Abbey’s Royal Gunpowder Mills, over 30 steam whistles were heard applauding the winner of the award.
