Robertson Facilities Management powers forward with contract win

Robertson Facilities Management – a business within the Robertson Group, one of the largest independently owned construction, infrastructure and support services companies in the UK – has secured a one-year contract with global offshore wind leader DONG Energy.

The new agreement will see Robertson Facilities Management deliver a combination of hard and soft FM services to DONG Energy’s new offshore windfarm operations base in King’s Wharf, Birkenhead. The operations base, which was completed earlier this year, serves both Burbo Bank and Burbo Bank Extension offshore windfarms which combined have enough capacity to power over 310,000 homes each year.

Commenting on the success, Ian Gibson, Managing Director for Robertson Facilities Management, said: “We are delighted to be providing a breadth of FM services to DONG Energy and I’m confident our experienced team will become an integral addition to the site at King’s Wharf.

“Robertson Group has a growing presence in the North West and is committed to delivering exceptional standards across its diverse customer base while having a positive impact on local communities. For the Facilities Management business, this is an indication of our ongoing dedication to our workforce and our North West operations.”

Robertson North West – another business within the Robertson Group – previously had a relationship with DONG Energy, having constructed the operation base where Robertson Facilities Management will be carrying out the agreed work.

Lee Rollason, Head of Burbo Bank Operations said: “We’re extremely pleased with the work Robertson has delivered so far; having the new facility has had a really positive impact on our work and day-today activities.

“I’m therefore happy to see we can continue to build on our relationship through Facilities Management and look forward to welcoming the team here.”

Robertson Facilities Management will deliver a number of services, including planned and reactive maintenance, property and building maintenance, minor works and project management, window cleaning and a number of other specialist services.

This announcement builds on Robertson Facilities Management’s other recent successes, with contracts being secured with Tyne Coast College and Northumbrian Water Group.

Chubb Installs Fire and Security Software Upgrade at Coleg Menai

Chubb Fire & Security Limited is helping Welsh further education college Coleg Menai to further protect students, staff and property by upgrading its fire and security management software. Chubb, a leading provider of security and fire-safety solutions, is a part of UTC Climate, Controls & Security, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).

Chubb’s new Advisor Management software manages and controls 18 panels at the college’s Bangor Campus and two main sites in Holyhead and Llangefni. It provides one single interface for fire detection, intruder alarm, access control and CCTV system management.

“Initially, we approached Chubb regarding panel upgrades,” said Andy Tomlinson, estates services officer, Coleg Menai. “But on further discussion with our Chubb account manager and a consultation period with our tech teams, it was decided that the Advisor Management software would provide significant efficiencies to the way we manage our fire and security systems.”

The software can be accessed remotely and by more than one operator at a time, providing facilities management teams with a reliable, efficient, responsive and highly powerful system.

Alarm management is combined with live video to give immediate visibility to any alarm activation; intruder alarms include live and recorded video to track the whereabouts of an intruder. As a fully integrated system, if an alarm is triggered, lights can be turned on, sounders can be activated, and access granted or restricted – from any connected device.

“Any authorised member of our team now has access to all systems and site plans at the touch of the button, rather than having to switch between programmes. The live video stream in the corner of the screen is also extremely useful for verification purposes,” explained Tomlinson.

With over 500 employees and 10,000 students, Coleg Menai has vast and varying access control needs from students, employees, contractors and visitors.

“A significant benefit has been in streamlining the provision of access control cards, which was previously very labour intensive,” added Mr Tomlinson.

Chubb has been working with Coleg Menai for 20 years and Andy Tomlinson said the long-standing business relationship is a result of good management and trust:

“The Chubb engineers and technical teams are prompt and always available, and the account management has been instrumental in supporting each stage of our fire and security development.”

Virtual reality tour adds value at 30 Euston Square

As one of London’s top event venues, 30 Euston Square has continued its investment in cutting edge technology with the creation of an immersive virtual reality tour featuring genuine event footage.

“Site visits are the most important part of the sales process, however there are times when a client cannot attend in person or certain parts of the venue are in use when they do so.  Our interactive and immersive virtual reality tour gives them a chance to experience all we have to offer from afar,” comments Stuart Gavin, Sales and Marketing Manager, 30 Euston Square.  “It allows potential clients to see the venue in action, walk amongst other guests and truly appreciate what 30 Euston Square actually feels like during different types of event.”

The virtual reality tour takes 30 Euston Square’s ability to showcase its offering to the next level, going beyond the standard virtual tour.  Using the venue’s core messages as a story board, the video takes event professionals on a journey that includes meetings and conferences, as well as Summer and Christmas parties.

Stuart adds: “Throughout the virtual reality video we wanted to demonstrate how our Meetings Rooms, State Rooms and Rooftop Terrace, as well as our Auditorium and Exhibition Space can be used for varying event styles.  In today’s market good photography and a standard virtual tour is no longer enough. We knew we needed to provide event professionals with an experience both on and off site, enabling them to visualise an event at 30 Euston Square.”

The video has also been shot in a cinematic style, providing 30 Euston Square with a new hero video for their website as well as shorter clips and bloopers to use across their other digital channels.

Stuart concludes: “We’re extremely pleased with how the two videos have worked out. We previewed the virtual reality video at SquareMeal Venue and Events Live 2017 and received very positive feedback so we’re excited to introduce this to the market. Clients’ best understand a venue by physically being there and we are delighted to be the first event venue in the Searcys collection to make the most of such new and exciting technology.”

30 Euston Square, home of the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP), is a conference, meetings and events venue in the heart of London. Conveniently situated next to a major transport hub, 30 Euston Square is an ideal venue for both domestic and international delegates travelling to London for business.
